A morning of big feelings—and bigger kindness
On July 21, Charlestine Joyner Hudson visited Advanced Early Learning Center to guide a lively class of 21 students through a warm, practical conversation about emotions and everyday kindness. Using simple stories, call-and-response, and quick role-plays, students practiced how to: name a feeling, use kind words, share space and supplies, and ask a grown-up for help when emotions feel “too big.”
The goal was simple: give children a starter toolkit for empathy—language for what they feel and small actions that make classmates feel safe and seen.
How this visit reflects our mission
At Joy of Memorable Creations (JOMC), our heartbeat is to encourage, empower, and educate—reaching out to make a difference one life at a time. This early-learning visit is one way we live that promise with the youngest members of our community. Facebook
Connecting the dots to community care
Emotional literacy in childhood supports the same compassion we champion across our outreach—whether we’re raising awareness, standing with survivors, or equipping neighbors with resources. Your support of JOMC helps fuel initiatives that include domestic-violence awareness, suicide-prevention-aligned education, and other restorative community efforts throughout the year. joyofmemorablecreations.com
What the children took away
- Name it. “I feel happy, sad, mad, excited…”—and that’s okay.
- Pause and choose kindness. Take a breath; use words that build up.
- Ask for help. Talk to a teacher or trusted adult when feelings feel big.
- Include others. Invitations, sharing, and checking on a friend are all acts of kindness.
Gratitude
We’re grateful to the Advanced Early Learning Center staff and families for opening their classroom to a joy-filled lesson on feelings and friendship. Partnerships like this make the message last long after the bell rings.
